It's Easter! Bunny Hop, sunrise services, Gospel Brunch at SAB

Kids dash off in the 2015 Bunny Hop. It's at Jackson Park at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by the Easter Egg Hunt.

Here are Easter weekend events and Easter Sunday services:

Kiwanis Club presents third annual Bunny Hop

The Hendersonville Kiwanis Club will host the third annual Bunny Hop 5K Fun Run and 1-mile run/walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Jackson Park.

The fundraiser supports Kiwanis programs including Terrific Kids school citizenship awards, Balfour Babies (diapers and supplies for babies and moms) and the Kiwanis Shoes and Socks Program for children.

Pre-Registration until April 14 is $15 per person; $5 for kids 6 – 18; 5 and under free. Race Day Registration is $20 per person. Tee shirts are $10. Pre-registered hoppers get free bunny ears and one lucky hopper will win a $50 cash egg. To register visit Eventbrite.com and search for Bunny Hop. Parks & Rec hosts hunt in Jackson Park

Toddlers to children up to age 10 are invited to the 35th annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Henderson County Parks and Recreation Department at Jackson Park at noon Saturday. The event includes music, a visit from the Easter Bunny, inflatables, thousands of eggs and prizes. The Easter Egg Hunt schedule is 12:30 p.m., up to 2 years old; 12:45 p.m., ages 3 and 4; 1 p.m., ages 5 and 6; 1:15 p.m., ages 7 and 8; 1:30 p.m., ages 9-10; 1:45 p.m., special populations.

Laurel Park sets Easter egg hunt

The Laurel Park Civic Association will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Laurel Park Green at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15. Children up to 10 years old are welcome to come and meet the Easter Bunny and join in the games that will follow the egg hunt. Game winners will receive a prize. First Congregational Church is providing parking across Fifth Avenue West from Laurel Park Green.

Gospel Brunch at Southern App

Southern Appalachian Brewery hosts its third annual Gospel Brunch with gospel music and the Farm to Fender food truck from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

EASTER SERVICES

Easter sunrise service at Jump Off Road

Henderson County Churches Uniting will host the annual Easter Sunrise Service, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Weidler presiding at 7 a.m., April 16, at Jump Off Rock, Laurel Park. Carpools will run from First Congregational Church parking lot at the corner of Fifth Avenue West and White Pine Drive. Arrive prior to 6:30 a.m. to join the carpools that will bring everyone back to First Congregational Church where breakfast will be served. Grace Lutheran

Grace Lutheran Church, Sixth Avenue West and Blythe Street, will hold an 8:15 a.m. Sunday service with sunrise liturgy as worshipers, who have gathered outside, process into the darkened nave, just as the women came at dawn to the tomb to discover that Christ had been resurrected from the dead. The Asheville String Quartet and combined adult choirs will play special music by Mozart and Handel at the 8:15 and 9:45 a.m. services. These services will follow the traditional Lutheran liturgy and, at 11:15 a.m., the contemporary service will be accompanied by the Praise Band. Nursery care will be available during all services.

First Methodist

An Easter Sunrise Service will be held in the Memorial Garden from 7 to 7:30 a.m., followed by breakfast of Easter Pie, coffee and juice. A traditional service will be held in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The contemporary service with Praise Band will be held in the Christian Life Center at 9:30 a.m. A live broadcast of the 11 a.m. service will be carried on WTZQ-95.3 FM and 1600-AM Radio.

Hendersonville Presbyterian


On Easter Sunday, the Rev. Bill Campbell’s sermon at all three services will be “Keep It Quiet.” Special music at the 8:30 service will be by Rená Johnson singing “He’s Alive,” by Francisco, and “Jesus Rose,” by Dilworth. The church holds traditional services at 8:30 in the chapel and at 10:55 in the sanctuary and the King Street worship contemporary service at 10:45 in the chapel.

Jones Gap Baptist

Jones Gap Baptist Church will hold an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow. Morning worship is at 10:30. There is no evening service. For more information contact pastor Curtis Pace at 828-817-0303.

St Paul's Episcopal

St Paul's Episcopal Church in Edneyville will hold Maunday Thursday services at 6 p.m., Good Friday service at 6 p.m. and an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday. The public is invited. The church will hold an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. with breakfast following. A contemporary service is at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

West Hendersonville Baptist

West Hendersonville Baptist Church, 730 Willow Road, will hold an Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast to follow. A Family Bible Study is at 9:45 a.m. The West Hendersonville Choir will present an Easter Cantata, “Come to the Cross,” at 11 a.m.
The church will present a Gospel Concert featuring Ron Crane and Chosen Edition at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23.
