Saluda honoring longtime town clerk

SALUDA — Longtime city clerk Doris T. Marion will be honored on Sept. 6 for her 25 years of service to the town of Saluda.

"The end of an era has come in Saluda, and we are saddened to see Doris go, but excited for her to enjoy her retirement years as a citizen of Saluda and not the public servant she has been for the past two and a half decades," the town said in a news release.
Marion retired August 1. The town's Board of Commissioners appointed Monica Pace city clerk.
Marion will be honored at a drop-in celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Party Place and Event Center (formerly Saluda Mountain Jamboree) on Friendship Church Road in Saluda. All are invited and there's no need to RSVP, town officials said.
