Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a 34-year-old local man with multiple weapons felonies after a traffic stop early Monday.
While on patrol near the Mountain Home and Brookside Camp Road area of Asheville Highway, deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at 3:38 a.m. Deputies found the driver, David Joe Garcia, had a suspended license. During the traffic stop, deputies found several concealed weapons in Garcia’s possession, the sheriff's office said. Garcia, who is a convicted felon following a 2010 conviction for altering a firearm’s serial number, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and driving while license was revoked. Garcia was also served an outstanding arrest warrant on a previous driving while license revoked charge. He was booked into the Henderson County Jail under a $26,100 bond.
