Blue Ridge health center CEO leaving for job in Boone

Jennifer Henderson, who came on board as chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Community Health Services five years ago and led the organization through a period of growth, is leaving the post to become vice president of Appalachian Regional Health System in Boone, Blue Ridge health services announced.


"Jennifer joined BRCHS in 2007," Board Chair Gerald Maier said in a news release. "She has led the organization during a time of unprecedented growth and expansion including the building of a new 27,000-square-foot health center, and expansion of services in Transylvania County with a new satellite in Brevard.

"She has been instrumental in advancing the BRCHS mission by providing increased access to quality, affordable health care for our community through collaborations with other organizations. Under her leadership, the reputation, management, quality and operations of BRCHS have been expanded, professionalized and improved. She will be greatly missed and we wish her the best in her future endeavors."

The Board of Directors is in the process of organizing a search committee to name a successor. Henderson's last day with BRCHS will be Nov. 15.

BRCHS has been serving Hendersonville and the surrounding communities for almost 50 years in an effort to provide high quality and affordable medical, dental and mental health care as well as promote health awareness/education.
