Brothers charged with Flat Rock crime spree

Henderson County sheriff’s office detectives charged two brothers with a crime spree in Flat Rock and East Flat Rock last month that included a break-in at the Artisan entertainment venue, theft of a car and golf cart at the Highland Lake Inn and safe cracking at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.


Detectives arrested two brothers originally from Arizona that were living at 32 Rhett Drive, Flat Rock.
 
Shawn Michael Morton, 31, was jailed under a $81,500 bond and charged with breaking & entering and larceny at 217 Rhett Drive, breaking & entering at The Artisan of Flat Rock, breaking & entering and larceny at Highland Lake Inn, felony larceny from Caldwell Creations (Season's at Highland Lake Inn), larceny of a motor vehicle from Highland Lake Inn, felony larceny of golf cart from Highland Lake Inn, safecracking at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse, felony breaking & entering, attempted first degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy to commit felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny of U.S. mail.

Justin Ray Morton, 24, was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond and charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine. The investigation continues and more charges could be forthcoming.
