Butterworth appointed to N.C. Charter Schools Board

Jeanette Butterworth has been appointed to the N.C. Charter School Advisory Board by the North Caolina General Assembly, Sen. Chuck Edwards announced. House Bill 1111 which passed both chambers unanimously confirmed her appointment.

“Jeanette Butterworth is an excellent addition to the N.C. Charter School Advisory Board,” said Edwards, who nominated Butterworth. “Not only is she actively involved in the community and within a charter school, as a parent of students attending these schools, she is well versed in the daily life and culture of charter schools. Additionally, she has volunteered with the school in various positions and understands the needs associated with charter schools. It is important that our district is represented on state boards and commissions. I know Jeanette will work hard for our students and represent District 48 well.”

A senior consultant with WNC Nonprofit Pathways, Butterworth has over more than years of nonprofit experience including management, development, grant writing, board service and strategic consulting. She has served on the staff and boards of both large and small organizations, and for established as well as fledgling nonprofits. Jeannette has served on the Board of Directors for the Mountain Community School for four years. She has been a parent at the Mountain Community School for nine years, with two children enrolled in the school. Furthermore, she has served in various volunteer positions at the school and functioned as the development associate for a year and a half.

The Charter Schools Advisory Board works to ensure the existence of high quality charter schools in North Carolina.
