Re-cycle: Sycamore has more parking, more room and more bikes on Locust

Sycamore Cycle employees took a lunch break on Wednesday in between moving bicycles and equipment to the new location on Locust Street.

Sycamore Cycles will have more parking, more floor space and more merchandise when it opens at its new location in the Historic Seventh Avenue District.

 

The bicycle shop's crew was busy this week moving bicycles, accessories and the mechanic shop from its current location on Third Avenue East to its new digs on Locust Street. It's in the same building as Formation PR+Brand, which bought the properly formerly occupied by Champion Comfort Experts.

"We should be able to open by Friday," said Austin Parsons, manager of the Hendersonville store. The store, which has its original store in Pisgah Forest, plans a soft opening immedaitely and is working with the Erica Allison's Formation PR firm on a ribbon cutting.

"We're going to have more selection, and more space and more space for more products," Parsons said. The shop will have more family bikes, road bikes and mountain bikes and a bigger shop for tuneups and repairs. It sells Specialized, Yeti and Norco bicycles.

In April it will resume Thursday night "no drop" rides from the store, featuring a 20-mile ride at a slower pace. The shop's hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
