Police make arrest in fatal hit-and-run on Main Street

Hendersonville police made an arrest Monday in the hit-and-run fatality last Wednesday on South Main Street at Caswell Street. Detectives arrested William Badham Lorenzana, 26, of Brevard. Lorenzana has been charged with 2nd degree murder with the potential of additional charges. After being identified as a suspect, Lorenzana turned himself in to Hendersonville police.

The victim was identified as Jo Anne Ruth Blanton, 62, of Hendersonville. A vehicle traveling north on Main Street made a left turn onto Caswell at 7:17 p.m. and struck a pedestrian that was in the crosswalk and left the scene of the incident. Blanton was treated on scene and transported to Mission Hospital where she died from her injuries.
