Deputies arrest sex offender they spot at benefit softball game

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office arrested Billy Gene Weesner, age 50, of Lot 9 Thrush Lane in Columbus, North Carolina on Saturday June 1, 2019. Deputies took Weesner into custody during the softball game between the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Henderson County Senior Softball team’s benefit for Special Needs Sports at Jackson Park. Weesner is a life time registered sex offender and was arrested on one felony count of Sex Offender Unlawfully on Premises. He had been arrested in Polk County for the violating terms and conditions of his court mandated registry status on April 8, 2019. Weesner was out on bond and at Jackson Park when he was spotted by Polk County deputies attending the game. Weesner remains in custody of the Henderson County Detention Facility under $10,000 secured bond.
