Crosstown Velo Racing Team will partner with the Green River Community Association and the Green River Fire Department to promote the official Road Race Championship for North and South Carolina Aug. 10 and 11.
The bicycle event will be hosted by Falling Creek Camp. The proceeds from the race will help to fund the Fire Department and Community Association.
“The Green River community is an amazing place to hold the race," Tim Tobbe of Crosstown Velo. It is beautiful, the neighbors are friendly and welcoming, and the course is challenging. We hope the revenue gives something back to the community.”
The event pits racers against one another based on age for the Saturday races. On Sunday the races are scheduled based on their USA Cycling ability category.
USA Cycling is the sanctioning body and the Olympic organization for cycling, www.usacycling.org. More information about the event can be found under the NC events on this website.
The races will be run from 9 a.m. each day until midafternoon along Green River Road, Andrews Road, Terry's Creek Road and Bob’s Creek Road. The individual races will be officiated by a motorcycle official and led by a pace vehicle.
