Hendersonville ranks eight in the state for middle class, survey says

Hendersonville ranked eighth in the state in a survey of Best Cities for the Middle Class, according to a personal finance website called SimpleThriftyLiving .

Rankings were based on household income, property taxes, home values, the unemployment rate, college education level, schools and job availability.
Hendersonville ranked second in schools, behind Southern Pines.
"This data (for school rankings) comes from Homes.com’s school score, which we averaged across cities," the survey takers said. "It is based on student performance and state test scores. Using that data, the cities with higher grades for schools received a higher School Score."
