UPDATE: Searchers find missing 88-year-old

Law officers and rescue personnel staged at Mills River Fire & Rescue Thursday morning to organize a search for an 88-year-old man who walked away from an assisted living center. They located him less than an hour later.

In the activity of the emergency response to a fire alarm last night, Jerome was able to slip out of the center where he lives without anyone noticing, Maj. Frank Stout of the sheriff's office said. Around 30 deputies, first responders and rescue squad members fanned out for the search and quickly located Jerome.
