Sandburg house tours are free on Saturday

FLAT ROCK — Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will offer free house tours on Saturday, September 28. The day is recognized nationally as National Public Lands Day, a day to celebrate and enjoy public lands for recreation, education, health and service. National parks that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone on Saturday too.

This is a great opportunity to visit the Sandburg Home, especially since the temporary clothing exhibit “Dressing for the Occasion: Mid-Century Sandburg as Celebrity and Family Man,” will close at the end of October. The temporary exhibit has been an exciting addition to the home tour and visitors over the summer have enjoyed seeing the Sandburg family’s clothing and accessories portray their everyday life at home and when they traveled.

Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site is a unit of the National Park Service. The park is located three miles south of Hendersonville off U.S. 225 on Little River Road, and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
