Deputies seek driver who crashed through Courthouse gate

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help identifying the driver of a Subaru Forester that crashed through a security gate at the Grove Street Courthouse shortly before 1 a.m. Christmas Day.

The Subaru was speeding on Third Avenue East and through the courthouse parking lot when it crashed through the gate at the secured parking area, causing substantial damage to the gate and fence. The video shows the driver of the vehicle backing out of the secured parking lot and signaling a right turn onto Grove Street before rolling through the four-way stop. Deputies were uncertain if the crash was the result of impaired/reckless driving or an intentional act of destruction. The vehicle should have front end damage and a broken rear driver's side taillight. Anyone with information regarding this incident, the location of the vehicle, or the identity of the operator is ask to contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 828.697.4911.
