Pair charged with attempted murder after parking lot shooting

Hendersonville police charged two men with attempted first-degree murder on Tuesday after one person was shot shortly before 6 p.m. in the parking lot at Norm’s Minit Mart on Dana Road, the city said.

Detectives believe a verbal altercation escalated into the shots being fired. The shooting victim was transported to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released later that evening.

On Tuesday, officers took Jose Guerra and Javier Riley into custody and transported to the Henderson County jail. Hendersonville police, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals collaborated to apprehend the suspects.
