Smart Start seeks children’s books

Smart Start Partnership for Children is currently seeking donations of new and gently used books for children ages 0-18.

Books will be sold at the annual children’s book sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 Sixth Avenue West.
Proceeds from the sale will support early literacy in Henderson County through Smart Start’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that mails a new, age-appropriate book monthly to children from birth (or whenever they register) until their fifth birthday. Smart Start is currently providing a book each month for more than 3,000 local children. Proceeds from the book sale will support more Henderson County children to receive books.
Books may be donated at the Smart Start Partnership for Children office, 722 Fofth Avenue West, Henderson County elementary schools, Mountain Community School and Hendersonville Community Co-Op. For more information about the Children’s Book Sale, to donate books, to host a book drive or to register a young child to receive books through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, call Smart Start at 828-693-1580 or visit www.smartstartpfc.org.
