High water closes roads

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Henderson County on Thursday with predictions of up 6 inches of rain through Friday.

By 10 a.m. South King Street and Greenville Highway at Spartanburg Highway in town were already closed because of high water and a flooded Mud Creek was about 2 feet from the pavement on Erkwood Drive at Kanuga Road. High water also covered Tracy Grove Road.

Heavy rainfall had already occurred overnight and will increase today, with rates of a half inch to 1 inch per hour possible in the heaviest downpours, the NWS said. Most mountain locations had already received 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. The heavy rainfall will
cause flooding Thursday and Friday.

Chance of rain is 100%. today with 2-3 inches possible, 90% tonight and 20% on Friday. The flash warning is in effect until 12:45 p.m. today.

• Greenville Hwy at Spartanburg Hwy
• White Street at Greenville Hwy
• Caswell St at South Grove St
• King St @ Main Street
• Chadwick Avenue @ Spartanburg Hwy
• New Hope Rd @ Airport Rd
• Warlick Rd near Turnpike Rd
