Volunteers provide free taxpayer assistance

Volunteers are offering free income tax assistance to prepare and electronically file federal, North Carolina and South Carolina income tax returns through April 15 at two locations in Henderson County.

The free program uses IRS-certified volunteers to serve the tax needs of the low- to middle-income taxpayers with special attention to taxpayers 60 and older.

Locations and times are:

  • Hendersonville Church of Christ, 1975 Haywood Road, rear entrance at lower level of the annex. 4-8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday. Walk-in service only. Call 828-698-6213 for information.
  • The Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, 419 Turnpike Road, Mills River, Feb. 4-April 15. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Call 828-674-3225 for an appointment or for information.

Taxpayers should bring photo ID, Social Security cards, 2018 tax return, and 2019 tax documents. To have a refund directly deposited to your bank, bring a check with bank routing and account numbers.
