Snow forecast closes schools

Henderson County schools are closed Thursday and other organizations started announcing closings ahead of a ramped up forecast of snow.

The National Weather Service on Wednesday night called for an 80 percent chance of snow with accumulation of 2 to 4 inches, an increase from the one day earlier. The chance of snow falls to 30 percent Thursday night, ending around 9. Friday should be sunny, with a high of 38, the NWS said, and Saturday should warm up to around 50.

Thursday is an optional work day for teachers, the school system said in a news release.
