Mills River taking applications for town council vacancy

Meeting at a picnic shelter in the town park, the Mills River Town Council set a process for filling a board vacancy.

MILLS RIVER — The town of Mills River is taking applications to fill a vacancy on the Town Council through the end of April. The town council will interview applicants during a town board meeting May 14 and expects to make the appointment on May 28. All interviews and Town Council meetings are open to the public.

 

 

Beginning Monday, the Town will accept applications from interested individuals who are both a Mills River resident and live in Town Council District 2. If you are unsure in which district you are located call Town Hall at (828) 890-2901 or email info@millsriver.org. Applications are encouraged though not required to be considered for appointment.

Applications are available on the Town’s website (www.millsriver.org) or may be emailed. The Town requests, during this time of uncertainty with COVID-19, that all applications be submitted via email to daniel.cobb@millsriver.org.

Town Council member Richmond Meadows resigned on March 12 at the end of a meeting in which he was on the losing end of votes banning electronic signs and regulating the exterior materials on commercial buildings.
