City, county further restrict in-person visits

Hendersonville and Henderson County further tightened access Tuesday in ongoing efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Hendersonville's City Hall is closing to the public starting Wednesday and Henderson County urged people to do business by phone or email instead of in person.

“Limiting visitors to City Hall is a necessary step to protect the health and welfare of our visitors and employees,” said Mayor Barbara Volk. “We request residents and customers take advantage of the available online, phone, and mail options as they practice the social distancing guidelines recommended by public health professionals.”

Most services offered by the City of Hendersonville can be completed without visiting City Hall. Citizens needing to pay their bill may do so using the following options:

Customers can pay bills online at and selecting View/Pay My Bill, pay by phone by calling (828) 697-3052, mail payment to 160 Sixth Avenue E. Hendersonville, NC 28792, or use payment drop boxes available in the City Hall parking lot and lobby.

Henderson County on Wednesday will implement new service delivery models in the majority of county departments. Henderson County remains open for business during this time, and it is our mission to continue to be able to provide services to our citizens in a safe environment for both our employees and citizens alike. To help with that mission, citizens are strongly urged to conduct business in county facilities only if no other option is available.

Where business can be conducted electronically, offices will be closed to the public, and business conducted by phone/mail/email/online. Where business cannot be conducted electronically, the number of people who can be present in offices at any given time will be limited to maintain social distancing guidelines of 6 feet. In addition, a number of offices will implement business by appointment only.

Before making a visit to a county department, call the office for information on current hours of operation, or to make an appointment. Please visit our website at to find phone numbers, or to see if business can be conducted by phone, mail, email, or online.
