Bearfootin' Bears make their 2020 debut in livestreamed show

Lew Holloway narrated sketches of 20 new Bearfootin' Bears while Meredith Friedheim handled the video duties.

The Bearfootin' Bears class of 2020 made their debut virtually on Friday with a Facebook Live presentation hosted by downtown development director Lew Holloway.

A score of bears — on all fours, on their hind legs or mama bear with cub — will be anchored into place next week. They celebrate everything from bees to adoptable dogs to apples to the Hendersonville High School's Lady Bearcats soccer team, which like all prep sports teams had their season truncated by the coronavirus.

The Bearfootin' Art Walk & Auction takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Center for Art and Entertainment at 125 S. Main St. The Bears raised more than $57,400 for local charities in 2019. Sponsors are the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville, the city of Hendersonville and North Main Automotive.
