Open Streets Downtown is back this weekend

Downtown Hendersonville will host four additional Open Street weekends beginning this weekend.

Open Streets Downtown is a weekend long closure of Main Street to promote an enhanced pedestrian environment and more space for individuals to enjoyably socially distance while supporting the many small businesses that call downtown home. Additional Open Streets weekends are planned for July 3-5, July 17-19 and July 31-Aug. 2.

The weekends include the closure of Main Street between Allen Street to the south and Sixth Avenue to the north. Throughout downtown the avenues remain open. In addition, the 100 block in front of the historic county courthouse will remain open with the parking on the west of Main Street within this block reserved for handicap placard holders. Additional handicap parking will be designated in the 600 block near the restored Coca-Cola mural and at the City Hall parking lot at 160 Sixth Avenue East.

Curbside pick-up spaces will be reserved on the avenues immediately adjacent to Main Street. We ask that these spaces be reserved for customers who have communicated with downtown businesses and will remain in their car while business representatives drop off purchases with them. This aspect of the new business model has become an essential component for many of our small businesses and we ask that you please honor the intent of these spaces when you come to visit.
