Zirconia woman sent to prison for drug trafficking

A Zirconia woman was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug trafficking charges during a term of Henderson County Superior Court Nov. 4-13, District Attorney Greg Newman announced.

Nicole N. McCoppin, of 738 Mountain View Church Road, pleaded guilty to attempt to trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, attempt to traffic methamphetamine by transportation, possession with intent to distribute schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place to store a controlled substance. Judge Peter Knight sentenced McCoppin to six years, 10 months in prison.

Henderson County sheriff's deputies arrested McCoppin in January 2019 after seizing more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine at her home. McCoppin, 36 at the time, was charged with multiple drug felonies.

Also arrested was Ronald Shane Green, 44. He was charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, felony conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a controlled substance and felony maintaining a dwelling/place for controlled substance. Green's case was not a part of the recent term of Superior Court.

In other cases:

  • Brandon Vick, of 25 Scott Lane, Columbus, pleaded guilty to being a habitual felon. Vick was sentenced to seven years active. Vick also pleaded guilty to common law uttering and was sentenced to 16 days in jail.
  • David W. Compton, of 8124 Boylston Highway, Mills River, pleaded guilty to failing to appear in court to answer charges. Compton was sentenced to 35 days in jail.
  • Ramsey R. Ramirez, of 175 Delozier Circle, pleaded guilty to attempt to traffic methamphetamine by transportation, possession with intent to distribute schedule I controlled substance. Ramirez was sentenced to 62 months active.
  • Ross M. Stillwell, of 101 Hidden Knoll Drive, pleaded guilty to possession stolen goods and assault on a female. Stillwell was sentenced to two days in jail.
  • Roxanne Summer, of 8 Peppermint Way, Flat Rock, pleaded guilty to 10 charges of common law forgery, 10 charges of common law uttering. Summer was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
  • Jessica R. Tart, of 39 Roy Forester Road, Mars Hill, pleaded guilty to resisting a public officer and failure to appear. Tart was sentenced to two days in jail.
  • Justin L Webb, of 20 Davidson Drive, Asheville, pleaded guilty to attempt to traffic methamphetamine by possession, attempt to traffic schedul I controlled substance by possession, conspiracy to attempt to traffic a schedule I controlled substance,  heroin, maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance. Webb was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.
