Out of an abundance of caution and as a result of increased community spread of Covid 19 cases, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County is temporarily suspending in-person services through the duration of the public schools’ holiday break.
Effective Monday, the club will be closed to members and is scheduled to reopen in-person programs on Thursday, Jan. 7, in tandem with the scheduled reopening of Henderson County public schools. As always, ongoing operations remain contingent on community health and based on the direction of health officials.
“We’re doing everything possible to keep our Club members and staff protected from the Covid-19 virus, particularly as community spread becomes more prevalent,” said Nicola Barksdale, president of the Club’s board of directors. “We’ve been working closely with local public health officials and taking all recommended precautionary measures, and we feel this is the safest choice at this time, given present circumstances,” Barksdale said.
“While we regret the disruption to families and young people who need our services, we feel this is a safe and prudent step to take,” added Julia Hockenberry, executive director. “We remain committed to Club kids, their families and our community as we continue to work with public health officials to ensure the safety of members and staff.”
