Linda Jones Moore, 62

Linda Jones Moore, 62, of Fletcher passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015.
She was raised in Kentucky and was fiercely proud of the Blue Grass State. After residing in many worldwide locations, she was a resident of Henderson County for 20 years. Linda was a daughter of the late Robert and Caroline Jones and was also preceded in death by her aunt, Esther Bauman.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Murray State University and her master’s degree from the University of Louisville. She was employed at the Fletcher Branch of Henderson County Library as a Librarian and was a member of Etowah United Methodist Church.
Linda was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the recipient of a US Army medal: The Commander’s Award for Public Service, for her support of US armed forces, other governmental agencies, and their families while in overseas locations.
Linda was an adventurer. She was avidly curious about the world and was always searching for answers. She loved exploring, taking hikes, canoeing, and scuba diving. Her travels sent her to most of Europe and she followed the journey of Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean.
Linda was known for her inner strength and beautiful spirit. She had a whimsical sense of humor. Her nurturing presence was essential in her years as a social worker, helping countless people in need. Linda was also a dreamer who always had creative ideas. During her employment at the library, she was able to utilize her creativity by leading story hours for the pre-school children. There was nothing she liked more than reading and sharing her crafts with kids in the community. An avid crafter, she had countless projects she was working on, anything from mending her daughter’s dresses to crocheting a toilet seat cover!
Most importantly, she loved her family and friends passionately. She treasured her relationships with her three sisters. She married her soulmate and they created a beautiful life and many memories together over the years. The love they shared brought two daughters, whom Linda loved more than anything. Linda was also blessed with two gorgeous granddaughters and they brought her so much joy.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Stan Moore; daughters, Katherine Monkus and her husband Brandon, and Johanna Moore; grandchildren, Emma, and Charlotte; sisters, Barbara Rogers, Karen Squires, and Polly McCage; a beloved cousin, Michele Shaffer; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 3pm Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Etowah United Methodist Church with Rev. David Cook officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Henderson County, NC.
