Carrol David “Ganga” Halford, 80

Carrol David “Ganga” Halford, 80, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 peacefully at the Solace Center in Asheville, NC. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and was preceded in death by his wife Louise Blankenship Halford, his parents, David and Vauda Lance “ Bob” Halford, a brother, Joe Halford and a brother-in-law, Arthur Blankenship. Carrol dearly loved his family and friends and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a very talented musician who was passionate about gospel and country music, enjoyed playing golf and watching Tarheel Basketball. He graduated from Flat Rock High School as a decorated athlete, retired from GE and attended Mud Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Summerville and her husband Pete of Hendersonville and Roxanne Glover and her husband Marvin of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters, Kelsi McMurray, Ashley Hofer and Lindsey Hofer; a brother-in-law, Mickey Blankenship and his wife Judy of Gastonia, NC; two sisters-in-law, Jolee Blankenship of Pendergrass, GA and Edith Halford of Hendersonville; special cousins, Ernest and Geraldine Wyatt and Doug Wilson; four nieces and one nephew. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 28th at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Robert Floyd and Rev. David Stanford officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service in the chapel and at other times will be at Carrol’s home. The family extends their gratitude to Gloria Cunningham at Pardee Home Health, Collette Kocinski, Brenda Capps, Marianne Cagle, Dr. James Kelling at Brevard Internal Medicine, Rev. David Stanford, the Henderson County Rescue Squad and the staff at the Solace Center.
