Merilyn Faye Stanley, 67

Merilyn Faye Stanley, age 67 of Jeter Mountain ascended into Heaven on Sunday, September 4th, 2016 at the Elizabeth House. She was born in Charlotte; a daughter of the late Robert Willis Stanley and Katherine Wilson Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth B. Yarbrough, Jr. in 2007; and by her brother, Robert Otis Stanley in 2016.

Faye was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School and Queens College in Charlotte. She was employed with Belding-Cortecelli Thread Company for 27 years until her retirement in 2004 and more recently in medical records with Four Seasons Hospice for 10 years. She moved to Henderson County in 1969 and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post 5206, the American Legion Hendersonville Post 77 and Lady of the Moose. She was the first female Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge # 1616 and a member of the Hendersonville Does # 258 where she served as president for two years. She attended Crab Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Ward and Aaron Melvin of the home; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Teresa Barnwell and her husband, Hubert of Hendersonville; and three nieces and one nephew.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at Crab Creek Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Allan Martin.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Faye’s memory be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, N.C. 28731 or to the Crab Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 72 Jeter Mountain Road, Hendersonville, NC 28739.
