Elizabeth "Libby" Hawkins Smith, 47

Elizabeth "Libby" Hawkins Smith, 47, of Hildebran died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Frye Regional Hospital.

Born in Galax, Va.,, she was a daughter of the late Walene and Wilburn Hawkins.

A graduate of Galax High School, she attended Wytheville Community College and worked in accounting and in the aviation industry prior to beginning a career with Farm Bureau Insurance in Hildebran.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband Billy Smith; sister Fran Funk and husband Jimmy; niece Angie F. White and husband Scott; great-nephew Ayden White; step-mother Odessa Hawkins; step-sisters Becky Boyer and family and Wanda Bare and family.

A special thanks to neighbors, friends, EMS, and Sheriff's Department in Burke County.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Naples Baptist Church. Rev. Richard Merck and Dr. John Mason will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church and again following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
