Roy "Bush" Laughter, 86

Roy "Bush" Laughter, 86, of Hendersonville passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at
his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane "BJ" Roland Laughter.

Bush was a legacy and a true native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He loved his family, especially his grand babies and great grand babies, loved to loafer around, was a hard worker, enjoyed the outdoors, his mountains, cooking by the river, fishing on Cape Lookout, storytelling and sharing his "Tall Tales" with others.

Bush was a retired Pipefitter and member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #421. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II, a member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., Past Master of the Saluda Lodge #482- Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Oasis Shrine Club, the Screen Actors Guild, the National Muzzle Loaders Rifle Association, volunteered for Four Seasons Compassion For Life, a lifetime charter member of the Valley Hill Volunteer Fire Department, donated many gallons of his blood, had appeared in more than eleven movies and published three books.

He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Angie and Herman Hollifield of Marion, Tammy and Alonzo Manley of Valley Hill and Robin and Ronnie Gray of Mountain Home; two sisters, Alta Fowler and Flossie Nelson; five grandchildren, Ray Hollifield and wife Stephanie, Jesse Gray and fiancé Carmen, Cody Gray and fiancé Katie, Angel Pearson and Krystal Hollifield Drake and her husband Alonzo; five great grandchildren, Garrett and Katelyn Hollifield, Amerah London, Mason Gray and James Drake and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Danny Pridmore officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard and Masonic Rites provided by the Saluda Lodge #482.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jackson Funeral Service and at other times will be at the home of Tammy and Alonzo Manley.
