Jack Thomas Crisp, 73

Jack Thomas Crisp, 73, of Mills River went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, following a brief illness.

Jack was born in Henderson County on April 1, 1940, to the late Virgil Brisco and Opal Case Crisp. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Holcomb and Debbie Biggs.

Jack was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, making his home for 51 years in the Mills River community. He was retired from Arkansas Best Freight (ABF) of Fletcher, where he worked for 21 years as an over the road driver. He drove more than two million miles, accident free.

Jack was an active member of Mills River United Methodist Church and a Mills River Community Development board member. He worked countless hours in refurbishing the Mills River Community Building. He loved to work in the garden and on his lawn. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren, and he supported them in their various activities and pursuits. He adored his wife, children and grandchildren. To know him, was to love him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Myra Barnett Crisp; three children, Pete Crisp of Fenton, Mich., Kathy Clark and her husband, Tim of Asheville, and Deron Crisp and his wife, Vickie of Mills River; six grandchildren Kyle Crisp, Logan Crisp, Rebecca Clark, Bailey Clark, Brittany Crisp and Cameron Crisp; two siblings, Donna Dycus and Rick Crisp of Hendersonville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of his life is planned for noon on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Mills River United Methodist Church with the Reverends Ashley Crowder Stanley, Paige Ann Miller, and Paul B Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Mills River United Methodist Men, (for the Catastrophic Medical Expense Fund), 137 Old Turnpike Road, Mills River, NC 28759.
