John D. Saxon, Jr., 87

John D. Saxon, Jr., 87, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Pardee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

During WWII he served as a radarman with the Navy. Before retiring, John was a Civil Engineer with the State of Florida Road Department, building roads and bridges for thirty-three years. He was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school, spending time with his grandchildren, and telling stories. Saxon, Jr., Amy Chisholm, Dawn Clancy, Ray Bergsten; eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, J.D., James, Austin, Sophia, Zack, Jamison, and Zack; and a brother, Tom Saxon of Ridgeland, S.C.

A funeral will be at noon Monday, March 10, 2014, at Beulah Baptist Church. Rev. Dewey Barnwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service in the church.
