Jewell Simpson Waters, 88, of Hendersonville went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2014.

The sweet loving Staff of Carolina Village Medical Center and Four Seasons Hospice provided her with a peaceful passing. Dear friends and family were at her side.

She was born on June 12, 1925, to the late Will and Nora Hollingsworth Simpson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Waters; her four sisters, Ruby Simpson Laughter, Edith Simpson Bell, Emma Simpson Flynn, and Belle Simpson Moody; and four brothers, Claude Simpson, Marvin Simpson, Avery Simpson and Glenn Simpson.

Jewell was a long time member of the Mud Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years, she was a member of the Joy Singers, and loved participating in the Christmas and Easter dramas. She was especially proud to be the wife of a WWII Veteran who served with The 276th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, Patton's Third Army. This group of men and their families held reunions up to the 70th Anniversary of their service. Jewell continued to attend these reunions after Charles' death in tribute to him.

She retired from Southern Bell in Hendersonville as a Customer Service Representative. She attended events with the "Number Please" club and the Red Hat Society.

She will be remembered as a beautiful example of how a Godly woman should live, and how she should love and cherish her family. She taught us how to be a joyful spirit and a true friend.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Faye Barrett, Carolyn Folena, and Ruth Thomas, all of Boynton, Fla. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who all love her dearly.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville with the Rev. Dr. Greg T. Mathis and the Rev. Dr. Robert Hefner officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Chris Roberts. Interment in Shepherd Memorial Park will follow the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
