Thomas "Jack" Jackson Herbert, Jr., 83

Thomas "Jack" Jackson Herbert, Jr. age 83, of Flat Rock died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Park Ridge Hospital.

He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on April 30, 1931, to the late Dr. Thomas J. Herbert and Lucinda Robertson Herbert.

Jack graduated from Wofford College with a bachelor of science and received a master's of science degree from Clemson University. He was employed by the U.S. Patent Office as a Chemist Patent Examiner for 35 years. He was a resident of Henderson County over the past 20 years and was a member of Hope United Methodist Church.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Dickson Herbert; son, Charles Herbert; daughters, Luci Herbert -Hansen, Diane Herbert Moul; four grandchildren, Kristin Herbert, Sophie Clark, Jackson and Lauren Moul; brother, Roger Herbert; and a brother-in-law, Charles Dickson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd McCullough officiating. A private interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time.
