Reidsville High School, which defeated Hendersonville High School and then knocked out Polk County in the playoffs, advanced to the 2A Western Regional Championship Friday by slipping past Lincolnton 13-10.
The Rams, winners of 18 state championships including three straight from 2007-09, defeated another traditional power to advance to the N.C. preps Final Four.
"This one, much last week’s 27-19 victory over Polk County, came down to the final minutes," the Greensboro News & Record reported. "And again, it was Reidsville’s defense that turned back ninth seed Lincolnton’s fourth-quarter attempts to claim a third straight road upset."
