Candidates file campaign finance reports

Jake Johnson, the recently appointed state representative, filed a campaign finance report showing he has a head start on his 2020 election campaign.

 

Johnson, the former Polk County Board of Commissioners chair, became the youngest member of the state House when he was sworn in on Aug. 5 at age 25. His campaign finance report for the period fromApril 3 to June 30 showed that started the quarter with $2,993, raised $17,266 and spent $9,175. His cash on hand was $10,984.

State Sen. Chuck Edwards, seeking a third term reported that he raised $2,425 and spent $3,788. He had cash on hand of $6,075 and also is carrying an outstanding loan of $85,000.

State Rep. Chuck McGrady, who is retiring after his current term, closed his campaign account in January, records showed.
