Rotarians transport club meeting to honor Sammy Williams

Sammy Williams faithfully attended the Hendersonville Four Seasons Rotary Club for 22 years before infirmity made him stop.

Last Tuesday his fellow Rotarians decided that Williams could no longer come to the club, the club would come to him. After their usual breakfast meeting at the Claddagh Inn, club members drove to Louis Williams & Sons hardware store on King Street in East Flat Rock and surprised their old friend.

Williams still comes in and works in the store on Tuesdays and Thursdays, said his son, Danny. A member of the noontime Rotary Club, Sammy Williams joined a group that split off to form the morning club in 1980. A past president of the new club, Williams served for sergeant-at-arms for most of his time with the club. He will turn 93 next month.
