County hosts compost fair

The Henderson County Environmental Programs and N.C. Cooperative Extension Service will host the first Compost, Agriculture and Environmental Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Jackson Park.

The two agencies are partnering to educate the community about the importance of healthy soils and environment. The event is during first pick-up location for the county’s sold out compost bin pre-sale. While residents pick up their bin, they can connect with several environmental community partners, including Soil and Water, Cooperative Extension, N.C. State Parks, Mountain True, Hendersonville Bee City USA, Mills River Partnership, Bullington Gardens, the city of Hendersonville and GreenWorks.

The free event is at Jackson Park under Shelters #1 - #3. All participants will be required to wear a mask. For questions, contact Environmental Programs Coordinator Christine Wittmeier at cwittmeier@hendersoncountync.gov or (828) 694-6524.
