Bear Reveal is set for Thursday at Visitors Center

The 19th annual Bearfootin' Art Walk will reveal this year's creative collection of bears from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13. The event will be located at the outdoor Visitors Center Stage on 201 S. Main St.

Can’t make it in person? Tuning in from your couch is easy. Just head to Downtown Hendersonville’s Facebook page (facebook.com/downtownhendersonville) and press play on the live stream video.

The reveal will focus on stories about each individual bear’s creation, providing behind-the-scenes insight on what inspired the artist and motivates the mission of the nonprofit beneficiary chosen by the sponsors.

Attendees are welcome to bring a chair and are encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distancing measures in light of statewide mandates relating to COVID-19.

After the reveal, the bears will take to their post on Main Street to bring joy to passersby until the auction in October. Last year’s record-setting auction raised over $84,000 for local charities in 2020 and the Downtown Program hopes to continue that tradition of giving this year. In response to the highly successful virtual auction in 2020, the Friends of Downtown are working on a fun and accessible auction this year where bidders can bid online leading up to an exciting finale event that can be attended either in person or virtually.
