Hendersonville’s city council voted unanimously Thursday night to approve a zoning change for a four-story hotel planned for Sugarloaf Road.
Sugarloaf LLC asked for the zoning change from Planned Commercial Development to Planned Commercial Development Conditional Zoning District.
Council first approved the site plan and zoning district for the hotel in 2018. But the project had to seek new approval because the permit lapsed after the project did not begin in the amount of time given.
The vote to approve the zoning change for the project included conditions concerning the city’s lighting ordinance, a vegetation buffer, a pedestrian walkway and a change in height from 48 feet to 55.5 feet.
The four-story hotel will be 66,000 square feet with a meeting room on 2.30 acres. It will be located on Sugarloaf Road in the same area as other hotels including the Best Western, Hampton Inn, Ramada Inn and Cascades Mountain Resort Hotel.
