Citing hazardous roads, city, county announce they'll be closed Tuesday

Citing hazardous road conditions and overnight lows that will create black ice, both the city of Hendersonville and Henderson County announced that government offices will be closed on Tuesday.

There will be no garbage, recycling or brush collection in the city. The city is anticipating a delayed start for the collection schedule on Wednesday morning due to freezing conditions. Additional announcements regarding collection schedules will be posted on the city’s website. For water/sewer issues, call (828) 891-7779.

Many secondary roads in Hendersonville and Henderson County remain hazardous for travel. The public is encouraged to limit unnecessary travel and allow NCDOT and Hendersonville public works crews to continue their progress removing snow and ice from the streets.

In Henderson County non-emergency government offices, including solid waste, animal services and the Henderson County Public Library all will be closed on Tuesday. Delivery of emergency services will not be impacted by the closing. For emergency information call 828-697-4728 or visit www.hendersoncountync.gov. If you have an emergency, call 911.
