PARK GLANCE: Jackson Park improvements

Jackson Park improvements

Size: 212 acres.
Improvements set for this spring: Upgrading of restrooms, new fencing, scoreboards and batting cages to make ball fields tournament quality so Jackson Park could attract youth baseball regional tournaments that bring visitors for weekend.
Cost: Henderson County Board of Commissioners appropriated $284,000 for the park upgrades. Bids will go out in early January.
Quote: "Our goal is to have it finished by March 1," says county Parks and Recreation Director Tim Hopkin. "The work really encompasses renovation of the 1970s restrooms, which were created for one field. They were old in appearance; they were cleaned every day but old is old."
