IAM invites the public to thrift shop opening today and Saturday

Interfaith Assistance Ministry is inviting the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new IAM Thrift Store from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A ribbon cutting by the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and dedication of the store are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at 119 Jack St. behind IAM’s main facility at 310 Freeman St.
The store is dedicated to the memory of Allison Amatangelo, beloved wife of Tony Amatangelo, a former IAM board member and long-time volunteer in IAM’s food pantry.
“IAM is honored to dedicate our store to the memory of Allison Amatangelo, a teacher, master gardener and long-time supporter of the crisis services work IAM does to assist children and adults who are hungry, need clothing and need help with other basic needs,” said Elizabeth Willson Moss, IAM’s executive director. “The store is a huge blessing, made possible by support from the Amatangelo family, the Community Foundation of Henderson County, Bank of America and Cooper Construction.”
The two-day celebration also will feature raffle baskets and raffle items, snacks, beer and wine tasting Friday and Saturday afternoons and hot dog and snow cone sales Saturday.
The upscale thrift store features women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, a clothing boutique section, handbags, jewelry, furniture, housewares, small appliances, books, craft items, vintage clothing, toys, rugs, artwork, home décor items, garden items and new special finds every day. The store is open 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
