Who got what? City Council OKs $524,668 for nonprofits

The Hendersonville City Council on Thursday appropriated $524,668 to nonprofit agencies and organizations to support children’s programs, the environment, the arts, sports and entertainment and other services.


Thirty agencies asked for $340,900 and received $125,150. The amounts authorized were created by averaging the numbers each of the five council members recommended for each request. Partially funded grant requests and amounts awarded were:
• Arts Council of Henderson County Inc. $5,000, $2,700
• Blue Ridge Literacy Council, $5,000, $2,900
• Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, $20,000, $9,050
• BRCC Educational Foundation Inc., $3,500, $2,700
• Flat Rock Playhouse (Vagabond School), $14,000, $3,000
• Henderson County Education Foundation, $3,500, $1,700
• Henderson County NAACP - CDL Training, $7,500, $2,600
• Henderson County NAACP - Medical Training, $5,000, $2,500
• Hendersonville Community Theatre, $85,500, $1,800
• Hendersonville Shuffleboard Club, $1,200, $580
• Hendersonville Symphony - Second Series, $3,000, $400
• Hendersonville Symphony - Youth Education, $5,000, $1,600
• Mineral & Lapidary Museum, $10,000, $1,300
