Hendersonville’s City Council on Wednesday recognized Paul Williams, a utilities specialist with the city’s Water and Sewer Department, as its MVP of the Year.

Williams will receive $500 and have his name added to the MVP Plaque in honor of his service to the city.
In 2022, 186 employees were nominated for MVP and each quarter three were chosen as Quarterly MVPs. From these, the city’s Service Excellence Design Team selected Williams as the MVP of the Year for 2022.
Williams was recognized as MVP of the Year during city council’s regular monthly meeting Wednesday.
He was first nominated as a quarterly MVP after he responded in May to a water main break at Pardee Hospital’s Day Surgery location.
The water line at the hospital was not maintained by the city. But Williams recognized that water service was important to Pardee’s operations and the health of its patients, City Manager John Connet said.
Williams quickly coordinated the city’s services to begin work on repairing the break. His actions avoided shutting down the hospital’s operations, Connet said.
