Hendersonville City Council member Debbie O’Neal Roundtree announced she is resigning from the council effective effective May 1, the city said Monday in a short news release.
“After careful consideration I have decided it is no longer possible for me to properly serve the needs of those who elected me,” Roundtree said in a statement. The City Council will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of her term, which expires in December 2026.
"The city of Hendersonville appreciates council member Roundtree’s service on City Council since 2021 and her many years of service to the Hendersonville Tree Board," the city said in the news release.
Roundtree did not return a call from the Lightning seeking comment about her departure.
