County aims to improve Apple Country Transit service

Henderson County is seeking public input on how Apple Country Public Transit can improve service and increase ridership.

In recent years, ridership on Apple Country Public Transit services declined significantly, county planners said in a news release. The county seeks to increase ridership while optimizing the level of service to current and potential riders. Henderson County is developing a Transit Feasibility Study to determine where there are opportunities to improve transit service in the county. County staff have chosen AECOM as the consultant for the study and will be working closely with them throughout the process.

The study will look at existing services, connectivity to important destinations and bus stop locations, before recommending transit service enhancements and capital improvements that would make transit more convenient for the community. The feasibility study and assessment of existing services is needed to address gaps in service and to adapt to ever-changing circumstances, such as urban growth and traffic conditions.

To gather crucial public input, the county encourages ALL Henderson County community members, whether you ride transit or not, to take a brief Community Survey. Click here to take the survey.
