The Joseph McDowell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution last week presented its annual ROTC Award to Monica Fuentes, a sophomore at West Henderson High School.
The presentation was made by Lindy Koralik, the chapter's national defense chair. The ROTC Award goes to a cadet who demonstrates loyalty and patriotism and earns a record of military and scholastic achievement in the JROTC program. Cadets must have shown qualities of dependability and good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training. The award was established in the hope of motivating young people to become better citizens.
