Memorial Day service is set for 11 a.m. Monday

A Memorial Day service, “They Gave Their Tomorrows for Our Todays,” will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 538 Tracy Grove Road.

Emceed by R. Shuford Edmisten, DAV Chapter 14 treasurer and winner in 2021 of the Excellence in Community /Service Award from the DAR, the program includes an invocation by Bob Scruggs, DAV Chapter 14 chaplain and a recipient in 2020 of the President's Volunteer Service Award; national anthem by Calintha “Cali” McClinitic; Pledge of Allegiance led by John Collins, DAV Chapter 14 commander; flag folding ceremony by West Henderson High School Falcon Battalion Army JROTC; special presentations; and keynote remarks by U.S. Army Maj. Bob Johnson (ret.).

Twenty-six patriotic and veterans’ organization will present wreaths and the Henderson County Honor Guard will present a “Salute to All Veterans.” After a benediction by Scruggs, McClintic will close service with a performance of “God Bless America.”

In the event of rain, the service will be moved to the Forest Lawn chapel.
