Art on Main set for Sept. 23-34

“We will have over 100 vendors from across the southern U.S. that will be joining us for Art on Main," event manager Hanna Thompson said.
This year's festival features four artists presenting both entertaining and educational demonstrations on the Historic Courthouse Plaza including blacksmithing, ceramic firing and wood working.

“This event is critical to the Arts Council of Henderson County," said Eric Kerchner, executive director of the organization. "It is important financially, but also this event is key to the mission of the Arts Council to bring high quality arts to Henderson County. The Arts Council gave out over $50,000 to regional artists over the past year. We also paid for artists to go into local schools and to present artists from all disciplines for performances. Events like Art on Main raise critical funds to assist us in that part of our mission.”

Maps, printed and digital, will be available to find all the artists and to identify what discipline they offer. The map will also include information on local galleries in the downtown area.

Kerchner also stressed the importance of the role of sponsors to make Art on Main as successful as possible, including First Citizens Bank, Park Ford Hendersonville, Next Home WNC Realtor Laura Flores, Mast General Store, WLOS and the Henderson County Tourism Authority.
